Summer is upon us and the only thing bearable in this heat is lawn or something voluminous and airy. A combination of these three requirements doesn’t particularly make for chic dressing but when you’re seconds away from melting in the heat, fashion is usually the last thing one is concerned about. Now while that might be the case for us mere mortals, women dedicated to the cause of always putting their most fashionable foot forward remain impervious to temperature and look impeccably put together, whether you catch them early morning or just before they’re about to slip into bed. At a time when humidity reigns supreme and the only concern is comfort, Instep rounds up the style savants of the week who nailed the look despite what the thermostat might show!
Would you believe this svelte model is a mother of two? Fia seems to be getting better and better with age! Whether she’s walking the ramp or working the red carpet this yummy mummy is giving us serious body and style envy. She showed up to the PAS Awards in Karachi looking like a million bucks in a colourful Sadaf Malaterre sari, having added extensions to her lob for a change. She keeps the styling simple, just the way we like it and scores full marks for this look! Keep it up girl.
Fresh from the success of her last movie, Bachaana, thespian Sanam Saeed celebrated the release of another venture, Mah-e-Mir, a period drama based around the life of acclaimed poet Mir Taqi Mir. The dusky beauty showed up in lawn for the red carpet and proved that it’s not what you wear but how you wear it that matters. Dressed by Shehla Chatoor for the occasion, the actress wore a traditional shalwar kameez though the silhouette was anything but mundane. We love the fact that she chose the staple of the season for a glamorous occasion, making the pedestrian fabric work in her favour.
It seems that our top models are some of the best dressed women in the industry. A quick glance through Amna Baber Instagram page drives the point home. A veritable chameleon, Baber looks good while donning designer wear but looks even more spectacular when left to her own devices and allowed to dress herself. She even manages to make pajamas look chic. Since Baber is getting dolled up for a shoot in the above image, we can only imagine she rolled out of bed looking like this. Unfair!
Karma’s creative director Maheen Kardar knows a thing or two about dressing up. Rarely seen in designer lawn, Kardar prefers to stick to her own label and her signature office chic aesthetic for summer days. Here she’s spotted outside her boutique wearing a cream “boyfriend” kurta from MK Nation’s new Boyfriend collection, paired with a trendy chikankari tulip shalwar. We j’adore the concept of the Boyfriend collection: boxy, comfortable cotton tunics that look good while keeping you cool in the summer.
