He’s channeling a ‘contemporary’ Mor Mahal avatar these days; the beard was around even before MM but now UJ’s rolling a whole lock of royal rock star appeal. Seen here at an event held to celebrate the success of Episode One of the fantasy drama, Jaswal went all black in this churidar and kurta, topped up by a waistcoat and bright, contrasting pocket square. This is what Nawab Asif Jahan would look like if he was brought to the 21st century.
Priyanka Chopra and Resham
Androgyny is in and both Priyanka Chopra and Resham worked their glammed-up suits very well this week. While PC was being honoured at the Time Gala, Resham ditched her usual choice of Umar Sayeed regalia for a minimalist, streamlined look at the HUM Awards, held in Karachi last weekend. We love how both stars opted for monochrome suits, one being white and the other a blend. Even the choice of hairdo was streamlined!
Rubya Chaudhry with RJ Khalid
The Hum TV Awards’ red carpet was a train wreck as far as style goes but super model Rubya Chaudhry was amongst the few stylish people that managed to salvage the situation.Dressed in a white sari paired with a delicate jacket – designed by couturier Adnan Pardesy – Rubya was none of the rebel that she usually is (though her tattoo did stand out) and looked extremely sophisticated and lovely.
The one thing we like and want to wholeheartedly endorse about this look is the traditional shalwar. The shalwar has made a rollicking comeback and we love how everyone, from all walks of life and all age brackets is endorsing it.Because when the mercury rises and the temperatures start soaring, there’s nothing cooler than a lightweight, floaty shalwar (given that we can’t wear shorts or skirts). Naz Mansha nails the look at a luncheon thrown by Masarrat Misbah to celebrate one successful year of Masarrat Misbah makeup.
Mawra Hocane and Hema Malini
Mawra’s wardrobe is always as strange as the spelling of her name but we quite like this one’s quirkiness. We’re not quite sure why she was in Jaipur this week – appeared to be a wedding, which she attended with Sanam Teri Kasam costar Harshvardhan Rane – but this image with Dream Girl, Hema Malini did catch our eye and approval. Mawra is wearing Indian designer Anita Dongre, ever more popular after the Royal Visit and Kate Middleton’s wardrobe choices.
