It’s time to clean up your act, in fashion terms – of course. With monochromatic dressing this summer, wear separates of one color that have different textures and/or similar shades of that color for an overall tonal look. Mixing patterns can look a bit fussy and color-blocking a bit kitschy so this summer we are definitely gravitating towards monochrome outfits and even makeup and interior. Lucky for us, some of our favorite designers have created monochrome numbers as part of their Eid collections and people around town are showing us exactly how to wear the resurging trend.

Nazli Akbar

The Karachi based designer recently had an exhibition in Lahore where she displayed her feminine aesthetic in a number of single colour pastel outfits. We liked that she kept the palette summer friendly and easy on the eyes. We would grab this in a heartbeat to wear in these scorching months. Here, the designer is pictured in one of her own designs.

Maheen Ghani Taseer (MGT)

This ‘Bluebells’ outfit is a chic look for Eid, given its pastel hue. The top is minimally embroidered with cross stitch and has lace and tassel detailing which makes for an impactful look. What we love about monochrome looks is that the outcome can be just as striking with subtle detailing as wearing a bold pattern or vivid color.

Frower

For the younger and quirkier lot of you, Frower’s Eid collection has a lot of single coloured outfits. This is our favourite; ‘Sasha’s Dream’ which features a hand embroidered and embellished dupatta over a plain kameez and pants. It all ties together with a star belt making it a great experimental look for Eid.

Nida Azwer

Azwer just put out photos of her Eid collection on Instagram and it made fashion aficionados and alike sit up and take notice. Featuring fine hand embroidery by artisans in Sindh, it is a breath of fresh air with its paneling, sleeve detail and ruffle edging on the dupatta. This is one of our favourite looks from the collection.
