The International Indian Film Academy Awards, better known as the IIFA Awards, have been one of the biggest award ceremonies to come out of Bollywood. They’re always set in far off locations, packed with musical medleys, synchronized dances and many celebrity appearances. As exciting as the awards are, the red carpet is what the fashion folk really look forward to. Every year, celebrities and other members of Bollywood come out in scores and make style statements (that sometimes fail). Instep rounds up what some of the ladies of Bollywood wore to the awards this week.

Alia Bhatt

There is no doubt that Alia Bhatt not only ruled the red carpet but also the awards this year, taking home the Best Actor (Female) award for Udta Punjab. Her embellished Zuhair Murad gown on the day of the award ceremony was the perfect outfit for her because it spoke volumes (literally and figuratively) of her youthfulness and spunk. The gown that was otherwise quite bulky was cinched at her waist for definition.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif’s gown was called out for resembling Aishwarya Rai’s gown at Cannes 2017 as well as Elsa’s blue gown in Frozen. While this powder blue Ziad Nakad creation is beautiful, Katrina could have gone for something more daring. This dress drowned out her super toned body and seemed to blend into the hoopla rather than stand out.

Kalki Koechlin

Kalki Koechlin seemed to be drowning in this Gucci number. Everyone knows that frills are hard to pull off and so many in every size and direction, even harder. Additionally, the dress was in a colour that washed her out. Definitely not one of Koechlin’s best looks!

Mira Rajput

Mira stepped on the red carpet alongside beau and best accessory, Shahid Kapoor. Although a red carpet debutante of sorts, she managed to hold her own in a gorgeous tangerine dress. She kept a natural look for her hair and makeup which worked because the dress was doing all the talking for her!
