We’re rolling through January with bouts of chilling cold, gusts of wind and of course, the usual course of celebrity news and style. January also brings with it several award shows and while Pakistan may not have its award show face on just as yet, the red carpets are seeing some action in India and across the continents in UK and USA.
Priyanka Chopra at the People’s Choice Awards
After exciting her fans with the Baywatch trailer, Priyanka was seen in action at the People’s Choice Awards 2017. And she not only won the red carpet — obviously, she won her second People’s Choice Award for Quantico as well. The actor defeated her counterparts Ellen Pompeo, Kerry Washington, Taraji P. Henson, and Viola Davis to win in Favourite Dramatic TV Actress award. We just love how dewy and youthful she looked in a flirtatious tasseled outfit by Sally LaPointe.
Mawra Hocane at the Sammi
Wearing trend-of-the-moment, tassels, Mawra Hocane made an appearance at a Sammi reveal in a gorgeous Nomi Ansari creation. It may have been a little OTT for a little press conference, but Mawra wore it well and carried the fringed sleeves with style. Back to Sammi, the drama serial will be aired very soon as shooting has concluded and it makes us wonder what the younger Hocane will be working on next. Would it be a film with Umair Jaswal or Ali Zafar or both? We’ll have to wait and see.
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy in Davos
It is indeed an extremely proud moment for Pakistan. Not only is Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy the first ever Pakistani to co-chair the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting, she is also the first ever artist to chair the annual meeting held by the Swiss nonprofit organization in Davos. As part of the meeting, the two-time Oscar winning director also hosted a talk with Karan Johar in which the two filmmakers spoke about their films while also briefly touching upon the stress between Pakistan and India nowadays. We also saw Chinoy hobnobbing with the likes of George Clooney and Academy Award winning actor Forest Whitaker.
Balu Mahi promotional run begins
It works in Osman Khalid Butt’s favour that he has two extremely gorgeous women on his arms, women who also happen to be his co-stars in their upcoming film, Balu Mahi. Ainy Jaffri and Sadaf Kanwal make every frame prettier as they do in this snap taken during their promotional tour. The tour has started off from Lahore and will take the cast to Islamabad before they finally end up in Karachi in time for the film premiere. Also, Butt and Jaffri were earlier in London to promote the film.
